The Genoa, a QoL Healthcare Company's (Genoa) Government Relations department allows us and our center partners to make a bigger impact on the politics that shape healthcare. Genoa understands that when our center partners and consumers are affected by legislation, we are affected as well. Many politicians are not aware of the importance of behavioral health organizations to people with behavioral health disorders or how many of their constituents are affected by behavioral health disorders. Our Government Relations department works to educate politicians in support of the importance of behavioral health centers and FQHCs work as well as pharmacy-related legislation. The main initiatives of this department are two-fold.
First, our Government Relations team connects local legislators with our pharmacies and center partners across the country by coordinating tours to help them understand what Genoa and our partners offer to their most vulnerable voting constituents and their families. Secondly, our Government Relations department works to educate politicians on the effect legislation has on Genoa and our center partners, therefore affecting their constituents. We accomplish these initiatives by having our employees use online advocacy technology to alert and educate legislators. Genoa also focuses on supporting consumer advocacy groups. For example, we encourage our pharmacy and administrative teams to support NAMI in their efforts by being involved in the NAMI Walks in their areas.
